Heritage Baptist Church Invites You to Meet Our New Pastor!

March 20, 1980 was a turning point in Pastor Martin Coon's life. It was on that day that, as a ten year old boy, he trusted Christ as his personal Savior. His heart and passion for God are evident in his desire to introduce others to Christ and see them grow in their relationship with Him.

Martin Coon received his early schooling in Christian schools in Illinois and Indiana. He attended high school in Florida, where his father pastored for over 25 years. After high school, Pastor Coon served in the military for over 17 ½ years before being medically discharged – from injuries sustained during training for a return to Iraq. While in the military, he learned many valuable lessons of preparation for leadership, building relationships, and for ministry.

Sensing God's call to ministry and while still in the Marine Corps, Martin enrolled in the Distance Learning program through Liberty University to receive his pastoral training.  Funny, in those days it was VHS tapes mailed to the house, not many courses on the internet.  After leaving the Marine Corps, he served as an Assistant Pastor working primarily with Youth and Music outside of Boston, MA.  He has been the Pastor or Interim Pastor serving at churches near Columbia, SC; Grand Island, NE; Los Angeles, CA; McPherson, KS; Decatur, IL; and Spooner, WI.

Martin Coon is married to Kimberly Cramer of Sanford, Florida, and they have three children: James (29), Philip (27) (*married to Holly and living in Denver area), and Elisabeth (18). His wife and children all serve faithfully in church ministries.

Pastor Martin Coon’s heartbeat is that of a pastor. He loves his church, and through the rollercoaster of life’s journey he has his maintained a close-knit family and continues to have a passion for ministering to people both in the church and the community.
